I'm currently enjoying working on a series of Cotswold landscapes. They feature the spectacular display of bluebells and the tangle of new growth in the ancient Bruern Woods through to a wider perspective of rolling hills and lush hedgerows of the local landscape.  As a keen trekker also the Lake District, the Alps & Nepal.

From large Bowie portraits to more intimate pencil portraits & even portraits of pets - I'll provide guidance & plenty of ideas to produce artwork that you'll love. I enjoy the challenge of portrait commissions: to create a likeness & capture the essence of the sitter whilst remaining painterly and fresh. In contrast, landscapes provide an opportunity to be more expressive and intuitive with the paint, colour palette & atmosphere. I work primarily in artists' acrylic as its short drying time allows for spontaneity, creating interest and richness through numerous layers & glazes of colour.

I've drawn and painted from an early age; winning school prizes for art and the Sam Marshall Drawing prize at University. Since graduating in the mid-nineties I've have had a successful career as an illustrator (represented by Advocate Art Agency) for worldwide clients including: Templar Books, Ling, The Almanac Gallery, Woodmansterne, Oxfam, Greenpeace, The Home Office, Random House, Barnardos, Papyrus, Sheba petfood, Marks and Spencer, WH Smith, Dorling Kindersley, IPC Magazines.

My work can be viewed by appointment at my studio near Burford. I'd love to discuss your ideas (with no obligation) if you are interested in purchasing existing artwork, commissioning a painting, drawing, an illustration project or licencing existing artwork.

My work is also available through www.wychwoodart.com and can also be viewed by appointment at their gallery in Deddington near Stow on the Wold..

Absolutely delighted with this, Sharon has really captured Bowie here and the rest of the details in the clothing and the background are stunning in real life, photos do not really do it justice. Sharon was great to work with, she took the time to listen to exactly what I wanted and sent regular updates and visuals as the piece took shape. I had the pleasure of meeting Sharon on delivery of the finished article she is such a talented and lovely lady, nothing is too much trouble and I would very much recommend her.‚Äč

Portrait arrived today in perfect condition! He absolutely loves it and showed everyone - he also knew what photos you had used for it and says the likeness is amazing. Sometime in the future, I think I will have to commission one of him! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
(portrait as as a surprise Anniversary gift )

Just to let you know, the portrait arrived safely this morning. I'm really pleased with the result and the iterative process you used to develop this (rather than just send a photo and draw a picture, I really appreciated the feedback and discussion on the best picture),

Sharon Williams is a professional artist and illustrator with over 20 years of experience, based in the Cotswolds, UK.

Sharon has drawn and painted from an early age; winning many school prizes for art. She was selected for inclusion in a student exhibition in the Walker Art Gallery which encouraged further artistic studies. Sharon completed a Foundation Course in Art and then continued studying Illustration at degree level at Harrow College, University of Westminster.  During her first year Sharon was a joint winner of the Sam Marshall Drawing prize.

Since graduating in the mid-nineties Sharon has maintained a successful career as an illustrator producing colourful, painterly and attractive images for paper products, greetings cards, magazines, fine art prints and children's books.

Since moving to the Cotswolds and having a family Sharon has relished creating paintings for exhibition and has especially enjoyed working on larger paintings as illustrations tend to be small.  Her style and technique have developed significantly and have consolidated during this period of exploration. Influences are wide and varied; often drawn from the beauty of the local landscape and the characterful chickens who watch her work though the studio window. She has sold Cotswold landscapes through The Gallery, Burford Garden Company and chickens and portraits through Wychwood Art.

As an Illustrator Sharon is known for her striking use of colour; a passion which has continued into her self-generated work. Sharon primarily paints in acrylic due to it's fast drying qualities, fastness and versatility; allowing her to build up thick, thin or glazes of colour which are often scraped back to reveal contrasting layers of colour beneath. This produces an interesting and textural finish to the painting and she is often influenced by and enjoys the 'chance' mark or colour combination created using this method.

Figures and portraits have been a particular area of interest since art classes at school; life drawing was a discipline that she really enjoyed and has developed since University. Demand for her drawn and painted portraits has grown steadily over the last few years.

Sharon is happy to work to commission; a process honed through years of experience of working with Art Directors to produce a desired result.  If you choose to commission a piece of art it would be an enjoyable and interesting process; resulting in an original piece.
